Yes my friends the weekend continued
(if you don't know what I'm writing of, check previous post).
The amazing reality that Mat and I could do what
we wanted to, with ease and at our own pace set in.
When reading the blog of Heather Korpi
and of the castle in Ipswich our day was planned.
Thinking we really didn't know what else to do
on Saturday, that became our new goal.
At first we drove to the beach at Castle Hill and
when seeing the $25 entrance fee we quickly
did a U turn and headed to the explore the castle area.
We are not big beach people at this point in time.
The entrance fee to the castle grounds was only $8.
We could stay all day if we chose and were directed towards the
Allee:
The 160-foot-wide, half-mile-long Grand Allee or "Mall"
sweeps from the Great House to the sea.
This Great House has 59 rooms.
Too many for me, thank you very much but I have
no trouble admiring it from a distance.
Enjoying the view of the sea.
Trying not to think of the hundreds of mosquitos
trying to get a piece of us.
Looking back from the sea to the Great House.
Great Sigh . . .
After our half mile jaunt to the sea we decided to explore
a bit and wandered onto trails throughout the property.
We found the beach (and the mosquitos didn't)!
Now I must preface this part to say that most beaches
do not call my name or beckon me to spend endless hours
on their shores.
However, this beach was different.
The shores of this beach were not overly crowded.
The waters were shallow even out 50 feet.
There were tide pools scattered about with little ones
splashing about and many others clamming in the sand.
Life slowed down here.
The people that had set up camp on the beach
traveled by boats. There were many boats parked just off
the shore and from them families unloaded blankets, beach
umbrellas, grills, coolers, and many other things.
The town of Ipswich overlooked the sea and was a
beautiful sight from the water as well.
Looking the opposite way on the beach were large rocks
that one could walk amongst.
It was there that we set up camp after our barefoot walk
along the sand. There, by the drift wood with our
picnic blanket and tomato sandwich fixings.
Favorite thing
(so far that day)
discovering more of God's beauty with my husband
