A Road Trip for Foodies

During a chat with a friend today
I realized that Mat and I aren't the only ones
who plan road trips simply to acquire the
food desired by our souls.

So here is one of our most recent.
We took the kids for a PA trip in order to
purchase enough peaches for an entire year.
The best part is that not only did we find
the peaches but also a meal to go.

Here is my youngest "old man" settling in for a long drive.
He's cozy with a good book.

This, my friends is the best sandwich shop in all the world.
Subway lived and died across the street from this shop
for a few years, but obviously couldn't compete with this
tremendous Mom and Pop shop.
Yes, you have heard it here and need to go and get
the Screpesi's experience in person.
Screpesi's Sandwich Shop is located on Lancaster Avenue
in Reading, PA.

Many others travel from far away places just to enjoy a Screpesi's
sandwich.  We are now in that club and enjoy each
trip we make to this dear shop.

The welcoming view upon arrival.
Now if only I could give you the smell that greets you too
(just so you know it is strong with onions).

Here is the overhead view upon ordering and awaiting
your deliciousness.
The sandwiches we usually choose are:

Mat:
large soft roll
with turkey and cheese,
banana peppers,
onions and tomatos.

Amy:
small hard roll
(because they are simply the best)
with tuna and cheese,
sweet peppers,
onions and tomatos.

Beware that each sandwich gets the special spice blend
along with Hellman's mayonaisse, and a nice
healthy spread of good ole butter.

My new acquaintance cut and wrapped our sandwiches
in the traditional white paper and we were off
to the playground to eat up.
The sandwiches were amazing as usual.

The inside view of our van that Sadie named Life
(and I'm praying this van has lots of it!).
Peaches in hand.

Favorite thing:
watching Kylie make a new friend at the playground
and have a conversation with him.
She's simply too cute.
